Careful Heart Counseling Services

Hello and welcome to Careful Heart Counseling Services. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I believe healing happens when people feel seen, supported, and safe enough to be honest about what they’re carrying. My practice focuses on children, adolescents, and caregiving women navigating the demands of work, family, relationships, and life.

With over eight years of clinical experience and more than fifteen years serving Sacramento County's community-based mental health and social service systems. I understand that every child has a unique story. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, ADHD, trauma, grief, life transitions, or relationship difficulties, I strive to create a welcoming space where they can express themselves, develop healthy coping skills, and discover their strengths.

What sets my work apart is my ability to connect deeply with clients while remaining flexible, intentional, and clinically grounded in my approach. Whether we are working through emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, family conflict, communication, or the impact of past experiences, I meet each client with empathy and respect while helping them develop greater emotional awareness, confidence, and resilience. I believe effective therapy begins with connection. From there, we can create intentional, meaningful steps toward growth.

Motivational Interviewing
In my practice through collaborative, client-centered sessions, I use MI to support clients who may feel stuck, uncertain, or overwhelmed when facing important decisions or trying to make meaningful changes in their lives. Rather than directing or pushing for change, I partner with clients to uncover their own motivations, values, and inner strengths. Through open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirming their autonomy, I help clients clarify their goals and build confidence in their ability to take the next steps.

Psychoeducation
Whether we’re exploring how anxiety affects the brain, discussing the impact of trauma, or learning new coping tools, I tailor psychoeducation to each client’s age, learning style, and needs. With children, this might include using books, visuals, or play-based explanations. With children and teens, it may involve open conversations, handouts, or skill-building exercises. My goal is to empower you with knowledge so you can make informed choices, better understand yourself, and feel more confident in your ability to manage life’s challenges.
